Over 300 Classic Cars are Expected in Millville

Millville, N.J. (July 29, 2008) – Large crowds and hundreds of cars are expected to fill High Street on Saturday, Aug. 9, when the city hosts its 18th annual downtown car show.

The event, being put on by the Greater Millville Chamber of Commerce and the Garden State Fifties Car Club, will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Organizers are encouraging the public to come to the downtown and enjoy not only the cars, but the food, music and family entertainment that is being offered.

"As always, there will be food, fun and entertainment for kids of all ages," Earl Sherrick, executive director of the Chamber of Commerce, said, adding the event will be a day of fun, family activities. "There are sure to be over 300 classic cars, 1980 and older, on display for all to admire and envy."

More than 50 trophies, including best of show, will be awarded during the event.

Those interested in taking part in the show can register ahead for $10 or pay $15 on the day of the show.

Cars registered by Aug. 2 are eligible for a cash prize. The first 250 cars signed up will receive a dash plaque and T-shirt.

Anyone interested in pre-registering should contact the Garden State Fifties Car Club at 825-3047.

Organizers are also seeking vendors for this year's car show. Interested individuals should contact Dave Vanaman, at 327-3332, for more information.

The major sponsors for the car show include: Allstate Insurance/The Stott Agency, Prepaid Legal Service/Marvin and Cindy Boyd, ShopRite of Millville and Sonic.

Other key sponsors are: Allen Associates, Ashley Furniture, the City of Millville, Country Inn and Suites, K. Hovnanian Homes, Landis Title, Main Street Millville, Millville Savings and Loan, New Jersey Motorsports Park, South Jersey Gas and South Jersey Healthcare.

In the event of rain, the car show will be held on Saturday, Aug. 16.
