Two Fathers Show Support For Autism Awareness At New Jersey Motorsports Park
Marc Miller and Jeff Mosing will race for more than a win at this weekend’s Formula X

Millville, N.J. (June 9, 2009) -
With ten races scheduled for this weekend’s Formula X presented by Cooper Tires, June 12-14 at New Jersey Motorsports Park, there are plenty of drivers racing for the checkered flag. Two of this weekend’s drivers are racing not only for wins, but for something much more important.
SCCA Playboy Mazda MX-5 Cup teammates, Marc Miller from Holland, Mich., and Jeff Mosing from Austin, Tex., are making a difference on and off the track. Miller leads the series point standings entering this weekend’s doubleheader, but with Mosing will be working to raise funds and awareness for autism. Both racers are fathers of children with autism, giving them added motivation to promote something that is near and dear to their hearts.
Miller and Mosing have combined their passion for racing and their love for their children by teaming up with www.racenowforautism.org, a website that helps promote those who race for the cause and distributes funds to charitable organizations that can help benefit families affected by autism.
For Miller, who has an 18-point lead in the Mazda MX-5 Cup standings, the partnership is a profound one.
“As both a father and a professional driver there just isn’t a better situation for me to be in,” Miller said. “It isn’t often that I can leave for a race weekend, but still feel like I am making a big impact in my son’s life. My goal is to be able to help make an impact in other families lives as well.”
Mosing is driving the No. 31 Race Now For Autism Mazda MX-5, with full signage devoted to the cause.
“I am proud that I have the opportunity to run the RaceNowForAutism.org car,” Mosing said. “It provides my family with a sense of pride and purpose and I look forward to working with the site to promote autism awareness throughout the year.”
The goal for Miller and Mosing is not to just help their own children’s future, but more importantly to help the sixty-seven children that are diagnosed with autism each day. With efforts like these and the help of many others, a better life can be a reality for the ever-increasing number of children with autism.
“With insurance companies rarely, if ever, covering therapies or medical needs related to autism spectrum disorder, there is a major need for support from the community,” said Jacquelyn Miller, a RaceNowForAutism.org representative. “1 in 150 children are being diagnosed with autism and there are organizations out there that provide much needed support, programs and therapies for families that need it. The goal of racenowforautism.org is to help these families get what they need.”
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is the fastest growing developmental disability with a new diagnoses occurring every 20 minutes. Autism typically appears during the first three years of life and affects a person’s ability to communicate and interact with others. There is no known single cause for autism, but increased awareness and funding can help families today.
